Summer Reading Program
The Saluda Public Library has announced the schedule for their Summer
Reading Program: June 16 - “Make A Splash Magic Reading Show!” Everyone shows up to see Sammy Seal perform his amazing tricks, but Sammy doesn’t want to go on! See if Zelnik the Magician (and seal trainer) can persuade Sammy to perform. June 23 - Reptiles and Amphibians from the North Carolina Museum of Natural History. This “live” program will feature several species of reptiles and amphibians native to our state. A discussion of their habits and habitat and an opportunity for up close observance! June 30 - “Pirates of the Carolinas: A Historical Look at Pirates”. Learn fun pirate facts and dispel some pirate myths with music, puppets, magic, storytelling and humor. All the pirates mentioned in this program have ties to North and South Carolina. July 8 - Set Sail with Cap’n Steve Somers on a High Sea Adventure In Search of Good Character! Through books, puppetry and magic, explore the importance of trust, honesty, citizenship and other character traits. July 15 - 2:00pm - “Make a Splash in the Past” with Fli-Rite Learning. Take kids back in time to share the history of the Southeast. Using books, period games, magic, music and costumes, children learn about important events in our history including inventions, civil rights, book and peace awards, the colonial era, flight and the Civil War. July 20 - 2:00pm - String Celebration. “Read for your Life!” A show that uses songs, stories, poems and silliness to promote reading. Wait till you meet “Gilbert the Bluefish”, who discovers (almost too late) that reading can save your life! July 28 - "Make A Splash" Wrap Up Party at Pearson Falls. Nature Walk and Picnic! Children must be accompanied by adult. Call the library at 828-749-2117 for more details.
