Summer Reading Program
The Saluda Public Library has announced the schedule for their Summer
Reading Program: June 22, 3:00pm - “African Folktales” - Bright Star Children’s Theatre presents traditional tales passed down from generation to generation. These stories bring to life the vastness of the African landscape. Celebrate world cultures, literature and the art of African storytelling with the newest show in the Bright Star repertoire! June 29, 7:00pm - “Didgeridoo Down Under” - Let’s visit the Land Down Under with this high-energy, Australia-themed program that combines music, puppetry, comedy and environmental education. Lots of audience participation! July 5 - “Action Animals!” - This program is sure to please all ages! A fun and educational animal program featuring a monkey, serval cat, cockatoo and even a chicken hypnotizing. Kids will have the opportunity to pet each of the animals. July 12 - “Balloon Fairy Magic” - Marcie the Balloon Fairy brings fun, creativity and imagination to the library with her balloon creations. Kids will also make a balloon creature to take home! July 19 - “Hearts of Clay” - An opportunity for kids to paint their own pottery creation to take home. This program requires pre-registration. July 26 - “Cold-Blooded Encounters” - Things can get very interesting when snakes, lizards, turtles, frogs, spiders and more come to visit the library! August 2, 2:00pm - “Tangle of Tales” - Grey Seal Puppets returns with three favorite folk tales from around the world. Using a variety of puppet styles, “The Frog Prince” from Germany, “Three Bill Goats Gruff” from Scandinavia and “Three Little Pigs” from England are updated with fresh wit and wisdom. This program will take place in the Isothermal Community College Auditorium August 9 - “Tales and Customs from South of the Border” - Our friend and neighbor, Betsy Smith has visited and lived in Mexico several times. She also teaches English as second language and Spanish. She will share stories, customs and artifacts from South and Central America, as well as authentic snacks and a simple craft project.
